My Sweet Mobster: Episode 5 & 6 Review

Episode 5 and 6 of ‘My Sweet Mobster‘ bring some significant developments between Seo Ji-Hwan and Ko Eun-Ha. In episode 5, Ko Eun-Ha takes the first step towards Seo-Ji Hwan as she goes in for the first kiss. We have alcohol to thank for that! What’s notable, is the pacing of the K-Drama. It doesn’t feel too rushed nor too slow and boring. It also maintains a perfect balance between the romance and the side storyline regarding the investigation.

Despite the first kiss, things, however, are still complicated. Given the reserved nature of both Seo Ji-Hwan and Ko Eun-Ha, this has also escalated the number of hurdles between them as they both live in denial. To add to that, the distance this creates gives room for Jang Hyun-Woo to wiggle his way in, building up a thrill in the story.

Along with the main couple, we also see a budding relationship between Joo Il-Young and Ku Mi-Ho. Ku Mi-Ho has to be the most distinct character among the four, and it’s evident by the scenarios she makes up in her head with Joo Il-Young. Things, however, seem to be running rather smoothly due to this quality of hers. The show still keeps us on the edge, wanting to know more about how things will go on between Ko Eun-Ha and Seo Ji-Hwan with Jang Hyun-Woo.

Episode 6 ends on a cliffhanger and certainly builds tension with Ko Eun-Ha and Seo Ji-Hwan trapped inside the freezer. Time is running out, and with the keys to unlock them missing, this is going to make for a nail-biting rescue. But this is an important moment where Seo Ji-Hwan can step up as the man for Ko Eun-Ha and save her.

Show Rating: 4.5 / 5
