My Sweet Mobster Episode 8 Recap
in Episode 8 of My Sweet Mobster, Eun-Ha returns home, and Seo Ji-Hwan hands her the time capsule she had hidden years ago. She is pleased to find it and asks Prosecutor Jang to meet her.
We see a flashback of 10 years ago when Cat Company attempted to gang up and kill Seo Ji-Hwan, severely injuring him in the fight. Later, Prosecutor Jang spots him and mistakes him for being the cause of the violence.
Following the flashback, vigilantes tail Ta Wan’s group as they leave with the drugs. The vigilantes manage to forcefully stop their car.
Go Yang-Hee arrives at the location, and they begin to torture Jung Yoon-Taek. Just then, Seo Seo Ji-Hwan arrives and takes Go Yang-Hee hostage. This allows Il-Young to free Yoon-Taek but leaves Seo Ji-Hwan alone. The gang runs a car into him and begins to torture him.
Meanwhile, the police arrive and arrest everyone on-site, including Seo Ji-Hwan. Eun-Ha and the others await him while Prosecutor Jang interrogates Seo Ji-Hwan. Prosecutor Jang tells him that Eun-Ha has confused the two of them about who she knew as a child because Seo Ji-Hwan has changed his name.
Upon reaching home, he tells Eun-Ha that he doesn’t have feelings for her and she is simply a tenant. This pushes Eun-Ha away from him.
The next night, she goes to meet Prosecutor Hyun Woo and shows him the time capsule. She returns home and tells Seo Ji-Hwan that she will not see him anymore.
My Sweet Mobster Episode 7 & 8 Recap and Review
Seo Ji-Hwan’s is Ko Eun-Ha’s childhood friend
We have been living a lie. For the first seven episodes of My Sweet Mobster, the drama had us believe the kid from Eun-Ha’s childhood was indeed Prosecutor Jang. This far into the story, it almost requires you to alter your belief system. Imagine the hurt Eun-Ha might have gone through knowing Seo Ji-Hwan hid it from her all this time.
Seo Ji-Hwan and Ko Eun-Ha’s relationship
The relationship between Seo Ji-Hwan and Eun-Ha is unnecessarily complicated, but that’s what makes it an interesting story to follow. It seems like they keep alternately swinging close to and then away from each other. However, the direction this show is heading with their relationship is quite saddening. The current circumstances cannot be blamed on either of them. While it seems to be Seo Ji-Hwan’s fault for pushing her away, bear in mind that Eun-Ha has been meeting Prosecutor Jang for a while, and Seo Ji-Hwan has reason to believe she has feelings for the Prosecutor because she thinks he is her childhood friend. Eun-Ha has many valid reasons too, but I think they are self-explanatory.
Drama Analysis
The show has been consistent with the pace, storyline, intensity, thrill, humor, and everything important. Despite being a rom-com, the show showcases incredible fight scenes and creates a decent gangster sort of environment as well. The creators of the drama have executed the action scenes in a fairly realistic manner, considering the tone and genre of the drama. The dive into Seo Ji-Hwan’s past was quite essential and gives us some major context of the feud between Prosecutor Jang and Seo Ji-Hwan.
The Awkward Couple?
Let’s talk about the weirdos of the show. I’ll get a lot of hate for this, but Il-Young and Ku Mi-Ho are both awkward characters. Il-Young looks dashing, smart, and mature, but there’s also this confused and indecisive look on his face all the time. But granted, this also adds to his charm. Ku Mi-Ho is quite evidently the loud, bossy, and entitled character and that creates a stark contrast in how she behaves with Il-Young before and after the interaction in the lift.
What do you think about the new revelation in this episode? What do you think is the next turn in Seo Ji-Hwan and Ko Eun-Ha’s lives?
