Review Of Episodes 1 & 2

My Sweet Mobster: Episodes 1 & 2 Recap and Review

Episode 1 of ‘My Sweet Mobster‘ is an intricate storyline that slowly intertwines the lives of two very different people. Episode 1 introduces the main character, Go Eun Ha, a girl who works as a kids’ content creator. A series of events introduces her to Seo Ji Hwan. Seo is the son of a renowned gangster but chooses to lead his fellow gangsters down a good path.

The incredibly captivating storylines feature challenges the characters individually face in their lives, which somehow cause them to regularly cross paths. This causes their lives to beautifully intertwine. At this early stage, the unlikeliness that they will ever cross paths and the coincidence by which they do makes it even more exciting and has us waiting with anticipation for their next interaction.

Not only is the storyline incredibly beautiful, but this Kdrama manages to ace it in almost every aspect. The episodes are neatly tied together, leaving no room for confusion or misunderstanding. The episodes also feature animations edited into the scenes which are incredibly cute and elevate the scenes. Furthermore, they are also riddled with a few humourous moments. It doesn’t try too hard and too often but when it does it hits the right notes.

A major portion of the plot revolves around their personal lives, which adds more substance to the K-Drama as a whole. Given their professional backgrounds, we get to see a variety of challenges faced in two very different fields. Go Eun Ha works as a kids’ content creator and is managed by a marketing agency. In the very beginning, it slowly builds on how Go Eun Ha aspires to do authentic work as opposed to just selling things out. Eventually, it reaches a point where her agency posts a video of her without her consent and portrays something she doesn’t believe. Go Eun Ha takes it upon herself to make things right for Seo Ji Hwan and his business.

Seo Ji Hwan, in turn, is an extremely soft-hearted man but tries his best to hide it. His virtues are hidden by his words but visible through his actions. He appears fairly calm yet aggressive but is the exact opposite internally. Throughout, he faces the hit his company takes with courage and doesn’t seek vengeance on Go Eun Ha. He does utter a few mean words after believing she tried to make money off defaming his company but soon apologizes when he understands it wasn’t her doing. This displays his strong humility and willingness to let go of his ego.

For a long time, it looked like Go Eun Ha and Seo Ji Hwan are the power couple of the show. However, the second episode reveals that Go Eun Ha wishes to meet a long-lost childhood friend she isn’t in touch with anymore. Until the end of the second episode, they haven’t met, but it seems they soon will.
