My Military Valentine: Episode 1 Recap
The Unification of North and South Korea in My Military Valentine
The first episode of “My Military Valentine” features Baek Young Ok visiting Seoul following the unification of North and South Korea. Lloyd and his K-pop band, FITA, perform to commemorate the union of the two countries.
FITA’s performance and the bomb threat
On the other hand, a group of extremists plan to blow up the venue to cause political unrest. The mayor becomes aware of this but refuses to leave the event to demonstrate courage. On the contrary, they continue the concert while deploying a bomb defusal crew. When the terrorists discover that the designated major guest is not there, they call off the bombing and retreat.
Lloyd Meets Jini Yoon
Following the show, Lloyd slips out to meet Jini Yoon in a dark vehicle parked in the basement. She brings him his dream gun to impress him. Although Lloyd is pleased, he doesn’t show love interest in her, but she still kisses him.
Lloyd’s first encounter with Baek Young Ok in My Military Valentine
Just then, the bomb defusal squad breaks into the suspicious-looking vehicle, exposing Lloyd and Jini Yoon to the photographers, causing the story to trend overnight. Baek Young Ok, from the special forces, humiliates him in front of the paparazzi.
Why does Lloyd join the military?
At a news conference the following day, Jini Yoon claims that Lloyd had abandoned her after using her for his own needs. The news conference creates a media storm about Lloyd’s name. His management advises him to stay low for a while until the storm passes.
Lloyd returns to his room and starts playing. He recalls trying to sneak up on Baek Young Ok to teach her a lesson and seeing her battle one of the militants. As they investigate whether or not the call was a hoax, North Korean officials have taken the girl responsible for it captive.
Lloyd’s squad recommends that he join the military while he rests so he can make a better comeback later. Lloyd wants to return three weeks into training, but his management demands that he finish the semester. Lloyd then meets Baek Young Ok in the military training facility.
My Military Valentine: Episode 1 Review
Episode 1 of “My Military Valentine” begins by introducing the main characters Lloyd and Baek Young Ok and establishes the unification of North and South Korea. The series revolves around a romance between the two main characters, but until now, the only encounter they have had has had a lot of animosity.
Lloyd comes from the famous FITA band, and his character is weak, spoiled, and uninspiring—something you could expect from a pop star. Given that he is the main character, we are likely to see an upward spiral at some point, and it seems to be ignited in the very first episode with him joining the military.
Baek Young Ok comes from North Korea and works in the military. She is portrayed as a strong and skilled person. The couple matchup is quite unconventional, and the series could either make something beautiful out of it or completely mess it up. Regardless, this is for future episodes to tell. We can’t wait for the future episodes to unfurl.
