Flashback To Baek Young Ok’s Harsh Military Training
My Military Valentine begins with a flashback of Baek Young Ok undergoing military training in North Korea. Later that night, a boy tosses a bread basket to the kids, who rush to claim their portion. When a boy tries to offer her his share, Baek Young Ok stares in terror. Following this, he gets a scolding from the authorities for trying to share.
The Return To Safety
The North Korean representative learns about the encounter and sends a team to look for the lost comrades. Lloyd and Baek Young Ok make it to the riverbank, and Lloyd soon notices her bleeding stab wound. Lloyd tries his best to provide medical assistance to Baek Young Ok, but he is unable to do so due to limited resources.
As her condition deteriorates, she experiences a flashback of the authorities dragging her father away when she was a little girl. Lloyd intends to find a way to call for help, but she urges him not to leave her side. While the rescue team is still searching for them, Lloyd appears to be carrying Baek Young Ok on his back.
Waking Up In The Hospital
The next morning, Lloyd wakes up in the hospital and finds his manager sitting beside him. He whines about the difficulties he faced the previous night and prides himself on overcoming them. Just then, the doctor arrives and rolls the curtains over, revealing Baek Young Ok on the next bed. She calls him a bluffer because he exaggerated the previous night.
Lloyd Expresses His Desire To Leave The Armed Forces
The doctor asserts that Lloyd’s discharge is imminent due to his normal reports, but he maintains that he is not in good health. Lloyd and Baek Young Ok continue to fight over the favors they pulled for each other. Lee Min Ho, the Vice Commissioner of the Unified Security Agency, arrives to check on Lloyd and tries to convince him to continue working in the Unified Force Unit. Following that, a group of photographers flock into the room to take pictures of Lloyd.
Baek Young Ok Runs Into The ‘Golden Water’ Sellers Once Again
Baek Young Ok is disgusted by the attention and leaves the room. She runs into the two salespeople she met on the first night. Seeing her, they immediately run away, but she follows them and asks for the golden water they were selling.

Meanwhile, Lloyd tries to pressure the South Korean representative into letting him out of the military, but the representative reminds him that he joined because he owned an illegal weapon. Lloyd refutes that and reaches out for Baek Young Ok to tell the truth. Unfortunately, she isn’t there, and he leaves in search of her. He disguises himself and finds her outside. He cautions her about the scammers and chases them away. Following this, she walks away angrily. After entering the hospital, she sees Song Jae Hoon, and the two hug.

An Unclear Past
Episode 3 of My Military Valentine takes us through a part of Baek Young Ok’s childhood, revealing the harsh military training she had to undergo as a child in North Korea. The flashback doesn’t provide sufficient information on why her father was taken away, so that remains a mystery. Hopefully, they will reveal it in upcoming episodes.
A Budding Relationship
We see Lloyd and Baek Young Ok’s relationship grow into something. Lloyd seems to be the one falling first, while Baek Young Ok still resents him. Not claiming she hasn’t done anything for him, but saving him from the terrorists is part of her job. However, the things she said while she was in pain do hold value. She might just be finding it difficult to be vulnerable.
A New Character Has Baek Young Ok Shocked
The twist comes when an acquaintance arrives to meet her. Not much has been revealed about their relationship, but she seems to be happy to meet him. He may also be the flashback boy who offered her bread. Future episodes will reveal whether our assumption is correct or not.
